In the second quarter of 2025, Hungary's economy saw a slight annual growth in gross domestic product (GDP) by 0.1%, aligning with earlier projections and picking up from stagnation in the previous quarter. Analyzing the production aspect, the construction sector experienced a resurgence, growing by 4.3% compared to a decline of 5.1% in the first quarter. Additionally, there were consistent advancements in the services sector, which improved from 1.1% to 1.3%, and notably in arts, entertainment, leisure, and other services, which rose to 6.5% from 3.1%. The industrial sector’s downturn softened, showing a contraction of 3.3% compared to 3.9% earlier, especially within manufacturing, which registered a decline of 4.4%, slightly better than the previous 4.6%. On the expenditure front, household consumption, the primary component of actual consumption, increased to 5%, up from 4.1% in the previous quarter. Despite this, growth was tempered by weak net external demand as exports continued to fall by 0.9%, down from a 0.4% decrease, while imports notably rose by 4% compared to a minimal increase of 0.1%. When adjusted for seasonal variations, Hungary's GDP demonstrated a quarterly increase of 0.4%, recovering from a revised 0.1% contraction observed in the first quarter.
