2025.06.1714:15:15UTC+00Ibovespa Volatile as Geopolitical Risks Rise

The Ibovespa index approached the 139,000 mark early on Tuesday, fluctuating as investors demonstrated risk aversion due to escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, now persisting for five days. Global markets reacted negatively to President Trump's early departure from the G7 summit, which was attributed to concerns in the Middle East. Investors are keenly awaiting the interest rate decisions scheduled for Wednesday from both the Federal Reserve and Brazil's central bank, with the latter anticipated to maintain rates at 14.75%. Attention is also centered on the proposed hike in financial transaction taxes, as the Deputies Chamber has approved an urgent vote to possibly overturn the government's decree. On the corporate side, Petrobras saw a 1.3% increase, whereas Vale experienced a 1% decline. Key banks showed mixed performance, with Banco do Brasil down by 0.2%, Bradesco up by 0.5%, Itaú increasing by 0.2%, and Santander decreasing by 0.2%. Meanwhile, Azul gained 2%, but Embraer, CSN, and Gerdau faced declines of 1.1%, 1.7%, and 0.4%, respectively. The volatility index rose by 2.9%.
