2025.09.0412:47:34UTC+00Canada Imports Fall in July

In July 2025, Canada's overall imports experienced a slight decline of 0.7%, totaling C$66.8 billion. This downturn was primarily attributed to a significant drop in the import of industrial machinery, equipment, and parts, which fell by 18.8%. This reduction included a decrease of over C$2.0 billion in imports related to logging, construction, mining, and oil and gas field machinery. This sharp decline followed an exceptional delivery in June of a module for an offshore oil project in Newfoundland. However, this was partially offset by substantial increases in several other sectors: aircraft and transportation equipment saw an 11.0% rise, motor vehicles and parts increased by 2.2%, consumer goods by 1.6%, and farm, fishing, and intermediate food products by 7.8%. Imports from the United States decreased by 2.2%, representing the fourth drop in five months, while imports from countries other than the United States grew by 1.3%.
