Meanwhile, new business saw only a slight increase, attributed to a significant drop in export sales to Europe. Employment within the sector continued to grow for the eleventh consecutive month, although at a slower pace due to firms experiencing talent shortages. Purchasing activity saw a minor uptick, yet efforts to enhance cash flow led to reductions in inventory levels. Regarding pricing, the rise in input costs slowed to a 17-month low, and the rate of increase in output prices was the lowest observed since May 2024, influenced by declining raw material costs and heightened competition. Supplier delivery times extended further as transport delays persisted. Despite the subdued sentiment, manufacturers generally remained positive, with 45% anticipating increased production in the coming year, buoyed by expectations of heightened global demand and opportunities in new markets.
