This decline mirrored the broader downtrend seen across European markets amid persistent political instability in France. This follows a cautionary statement from Prime Minister François Bayrou regarding France's rising debt issues, delivered just ahead of the scheduled confidence vote on September 8 in the National Assembly. Opposition from political factions, including the far-right National Rally, France Unbowed, and the Green party, has heightened the threat of governmental collapse and increased political instability throughout Europe. Concurrently, investors continue to deliberate over former President Trump's tariff warnings and other geopolitical uncertainties. Among the affected stocks, Commerzbank saw a nearly 5% decline after being downgraded by Bank of America. Other major companies such as Airbus, Deutsche Bank, and Zalando also suffered losses, each falling by over 1%. Additionally, Mercedes-Benz Group made headlines when it was revealed that its pension trust sold its entire shareholding in Japan's Nissan Motor for 47.83 billion yen ($324.65 million).
