In July 2025, retail sales in Cyprus observed a year-on-year increase of 8.7%, up from 8.2% in June. This growth was notably driven by several sectors. Sales for food, beverages, and tobacco experienced an acceleration, both in non-specialized stores (8.4% compared to 6.9% in June) and specialized stores (19.8% versus 13.4%). The clothing and footwear sector also saw significant growth, climbing to 15.7% from 9.5%. Other areas of increase included flowers, plants, watches, jewelry, optical goods, and second-hand items, which rose to 7.8% from 7.5%, and retail sales outside physical stores, which moved up to 4.9% from 4.1%.

However, certain sectors noted a slowdown. Sales of other household equipment decreased to 6.6% from 9.6%, automotive fuel sales dropped to 3.4% from 8.0%, pharmaceuticals, orthopedic goods, and cosmetics sales fell to 5.1% from 6.2%, and sales for information and communication equipment declined to 12.9% from 18.8%. Overall, from the start of the year to date, retail sales have increased by 7.2%.
