The annual inflation rate in Greece decelerated to 1.9% in September 2025, down from 2.9% the previous month, marking the lowest rate since September 2023. This decline was primarily due to reduced price growth across various sub-indices, including food and non-alcoholic beverages, which slowed to 1.4% from 2.2% in July. Similarly, alcoholic beverages and tobacco saw a decrease to 1% from 1.2%, clothing and footwear to 5.2% from 7.7%, housing to 0.2% from 3.7%, household equipment to 0.4% from 0.6%, health services to 0.1% from 0.6%, recreation and culture to 1% from 1.2%, and hotels, cafés, and restaurants to 5.9% from 6.2%. Meanwhile, miscellaneous goods and services experienced a price decrease of -0.4%, compared to a 0.2% rise earlier. On the contrary, transportation costs saw a significant increase, growing to 2.7% from 1.6%. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices rose by 0.8% in September, following a minimal rise of 0.1% in the prior period.
