2025.09.0200:57:16UTC+00Japanese Shares Rise as Sentiment Improves

On Tuesday, the Nikkei 225 Index experienced an uptick of 0.4%, reaching approximately 42,350, while the broader Topix Index increased by 0.3% to 3,072. This recovery in Japanese equities halted a two-day decline, spurred by an improvement in market risk sentiment. Investors are currently assessing the global trade environment in light of a recent US federal appeals court decision, which deemed the majority of former President Donald Trump's tariffs unlawful. This ruling gives the current administration a deadline of October 14 to decide on appealing to the US Supreme Court. Domestically, focus has shifted toward forthcoming wage data, which could influence the trajectory of monetary policy. Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda recently suggested that wages are likely to continue rising due to a tightening labor market, reinforcing the anticipation of further interest rate increases. Among corporations, notable advancements were observed in Sanrio, Tokyo Electric Power, Tokyo Electron, Sumitomo Pharma, and Mitsubishi Corp, recording gains of 1.4%, 1.4%, 1.2%, 5.1%, and 1.5%, respectively.
