In August 2025, the HCOB Eurozone Composite PMI reached 51.1, up from 50.9 in July, surpassing market predictions that anticipated a decline to 50.7. This marks the fastest pace of expansion in the region's private sector activity since May of the previous year, based on a preliminary estimate. This growth was bolstered by the services sector, which expanded for the third consecutive month, registering a PMI of 50.7 compared to 51 in July. Additionally, the manufacturing sector experienced an unexpected resurgence, with its PMI increasing from 49.8 to 50.5, marking its first growth in over three years. Despite a reduction in new export orders, overall new orders rose for the first time in 14 months. This increase in demand prompted firms to expand their workforce for the sixth consecutive month. On the pricing side, input cost inflation hit a five-month peak, leading companies to raise their output charges at the fastest rate in four months. However, despite the robust headline figures, business confidence fell for the second month in a row, influenced by concerns over U.S. tariffs and economic challenges within the Eurozone.
